Senior Unreal Engine 5 Developer | C++ Expert | Epic Games Authorized Instructor
Hi, I’m Nicolás Bertoa — a senior software developer with 15+ years of experience in R&D, specializing in C++ and Unreal Engine 5.
I spent 10 years at DreamWorks Animation R&D working on Premo and Luna — the studio’s proprietary animation software — solving complex problems in C++, mathematics, and computer graphics. For the past 5 years I’ve been at Sony Interactive Entertainment R&D, building game prototypes using Unreal Engine 5.
Earlier this year I completed Epic Games’ Unreal Authorized Instructor (UAI) certification at Silver level — a formal credentialing program that evaluates technical knowledge, instructional design, and teaching effectiveness. The process involved a written exam (scored 92), two instructional design courses, and a recorded teaching demo evaluated by Epic’s team. My demo covered the Gameplay Ability System from scratch in C++, and earned full marks in both Technical Knowledge and Instructor Confidence.
What I’m currently doing I’m continuously expanding my UE5 expertise through structured learning — 60+ Unreal Engine courses completed, 25 of them focused specifically on C++ architecture and systems. Every project I finish goes public: code on GitHub, and a full write-up here on the blog. This is my way of contributing back to the dev community and building a portfolio that reflects how I actually work.
Outside of work I’m a proud Seventh-day Adventist, a father, and a long-time fan of Age of Empires II. I believe in purpose-driven creation and lifelong learning.
